FREDS.VZ1 ========= The patches in this file were donated by Fred Fee. Thanks Fred. They were produced on his VZ8M but, via a very circuitous route, were converted to a VZ1/10M compatible file. The file contains 64 Voices and the 64 Ops are left blank. If anyone makes up some nice Operation Patches (even if only one or two) using this bank of tones then please let me have them (you'll need to send me the full Voice+Op dump) and I shall include them in the bank and hopefully fill up all 64 Ops over time. I think Fred has done an excellent job here. His piano sound in A1 is very good as this is a very difficult instrument to synthesize on any synth. I particularly like his Sequence Bass sound on C8 too. You can tell how much work Fred has put into these patches just by looking at the Key Follow curves on the oscillators of each voice. It takes a lot of effort to get those voices to sound just right across the whole range of the keyboard. This is what Fred says about his Voice patches: >>>>>>>>>>>> Sounds are grouped as follows: A = pianos and electric pianos, with the inevitable bellish sounds (sorry for those), but including a piano sound at A1 that I am proud of. B = more keyboardish sounds C = bases, including a fretless D = noisy sounds E = brass and leads - stack Reso Moog sounds and detune them the make your ears flap F = pads and a couple of wind sounds set up for a Casio Horn G = more pads and keyboards H = pads and percussion All the sounds were programmed from scratch, beginning in about 1994. I have kept on tweaking them now and then ever since. >>>>>>>>>>> Well, thanks again Fred. All applause and gratitude to FredFee@mcmail.com please. Any Voice patches of your own (or Op patches to go with Fred's voices) please send to me at Steve.Gutteridge@rd.bbc.co.uk 13th April 1999
